Best Instagram DM automation tools in 2026: an honest comparison
The best Instagram DM automation tool depends on what you need: free keyword replies, multi-step funnels, AI answers, or simple comment-to-DM with one inbox. Here are ten tools compared side by side, including Meta’s free ones and ours.

We make DM Flow
We compared every tool, ours included, from each vendor’s own pages on 21 October 2026. We did not test how well each tool works, so this page compares what each vendor states. Where we found no official page that says something, the tables say “Not stated”.
How we compared
We read each vendor’s pricing page, feature pages and help center, and Meta’s own help pages. Prices are the ones we saw from India. Some vendors set prices by country, so yours may differ. Where a vendor’s own pages disagree, we say so.
We looked at the questions buyers ask most:
- Official API. Does the tool connect through Instagram’s or Facebook’s own login?
- Triggers. What can start a DM: comments, DM keywords, story replies, Live comments?
- Extras. Public replies under comments, follow-gates, an inbox for replying by hand, AI.
- Channels. Instagram only, or also Facebook, WhatsApp and others?
- Free plan and entry price, and what each tool counts: contacts, DMs or credits.
Every third-party tool here says it uses Meta’s official API. Their labels differ: ManyChat, LinkDM, Chatfuel, ReplyRush and InstantDM call themselves Meta Business Partners, and Inrō, CreatorFlow and SuperProfile call themselves Meta Tech Providers. We did not check these labels with Meta. DM Flow connects through Instagram’s official login and does not claim a partner label.
Free plans and prices
Tools charge for different things, so the cheapest plan on paper may not be the cheapest for you. Monthly prices are in each vendor’s own currency, as listed on 21 October 2026.

The tools, one by one
Meta Business Suite and the Instagram app (free)
Meta’s own tools cost nothing and need no other app. In Meta Business Suite, Inbox automations include an auto reply for first messages, an away message, frequently asked questions, custom keywords and Comment to message, which sends a message reply to comments that contain your keywords or phrases.
The Instagram app adds frequently asked questions in chats, up to four, for business and creator accounts. It also has saved replies: keyboard shortcuts for messages you type yourself.
The limits: keyword automations and Comment to message work only on desktop. A custom keyword automation takes up to five keywords, which are case-sensitive and must match exactly. Meta sends a keyword reply to a message after 15 minutes, unless you answer first. If an away message also matches, Meta sends only the away message. Meta notes that some messaging features are unavailable for businesses in Europe and Japan.
Suits: accounts that need a greeting, an away message and a few exact keywords.
Step by step: how to set up auto reply on Instagram with these free tools.
ManyChat
ManyChat has a visual flow builder and a long feature list: comment to DM with an optional public reply, DM keywords, story replies and mentions, Live comments, ads from Essential up, a follower check from Essential up, quick replies, and AI replies included from Pro up, which ManyChat calls beta. One inbox comes with every plan; automatic assignment to your team needs Business or Advanced. It also runs Messenger, TikTok and Telegram, plus WhatsApp, SMS and email from Pro.
Since 2 March 2026 ManyChat bills by active contacts: people who interact with you through ManyChat in the month. Free has 25, up to 4 live automations and ManyChat branding. Essential is $17 a month or $14 a month billed yearly, for 250 active contacts. Each extra contact costs a small fee. Older accounts move to these plans gradually.
Good to know: each ManyChat account connects one Instagram account and is billed separately, and ManyChat’s broadcasts exclude Instagram and TikTok. It also offers “Follow to DM” for new followers as a beta: ManyChat says Meta decides which accounts get it and allows one such message per person per week.
Suits: multi-step funnels, many triggers, several channels and a team inbox.
Check: ManyChat pricing. Our guide explains ManyChat pricing and active contacts, and our ManyChat alternative page compares it with DM Flow.
Inrō
Inrō calls itself an “AI-Powered Instagram DM automation tool” and is built only for Instagram. Its triggers include comments, DM keywords, story replies and mentions, Live comments, click-to-message ads and ice breakers. It adds public replies, an “Ask for follow” step that checks the follow, buttons, a unified inbox and an AI Agent, which is included in Pro. Its pricing page lists Live comments under two different plan rows.
Free has 100 active contacts a month, 3 active automations and 50 AI credits. Pro starts at €12.99 a month and rises with the contacts you activate. Annual Pro is €1,249 a year. One Instagram account connects to one Inrō account. Inrō also sets its own limit of up to 200 automated DMs per hour per account.
Suits: Instagram-only businesses that want an AI agent and a follow check.
Check: Inrō pricing.
LinkDM
LinkDM focuses on comment to DM: “Reply to Instagram Comments with a DM, Instantly!” Every plan answers post and reel comments, story replies and story mentions. DM keyword replies, Live comments, ads, public replies, a follower tool and quick replies need Pro. Buttons can carry up to three links. We found no page about AI or about an inbox for replying by hand. It also works with Facebook.
Free has 1 account and 1,000 DMs a month, with LinkDM branding. Pro is $19 a month or $182 a year, for up to 3 accounts and 25,000 DMs a month. At the monthly cap, DMs stop until the next month, and extra credits cost $5 per 1,000. LinkDM needs a Facebook Page and sets its own limit of 500 DMs per hour.
Suits: creators with several accounts who mainly answer comments.
Check: LinkDM pricing.
Chatfuel
Chatfuel calls itself “an AI chatbot platform for WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook.” On Instagram its Fuely AI answers comments in public, in a private DM or both, and it handles story replies, ad comments and click-to-Instagram ads. DMs use their own settings instead of keyword rules. Chatfuel says it does not support button menus or quick replies. A shared live-chat inbox covers WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, TikTok and websites.
There is no free plan, only a 7-day free trial; Chatfuel’s pages disagree on whether it needs a card. Business is US$20 a month, or US$18 a month billed yearly, with US$20 of AI credits a month. Contacts and messages are unlimited, but AI has a fair-use allowance, and the bot pauses when you go over it.
Suits: businesses that want AI answers across WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook.
Check: Chatfuel pricing.
ReplyRush
ReplyRush “turns comments and keywords into instant direct messages” on Instagram and Facebook. It answers comments, DM keywords, story replies and mentions, ad comments and shares to your inbox. Public follow-up comments and a follow check need a paid plan. Quick replies can carry up to 13 buttons. Its home page mentions AI-powered auto replies; its help center describes AI that suggests trigger keywords from your post. Replies continue in your normal Instagram inbox.
Free has 1,500 DMs a month, 1 account and 5 DM keyword triggers, with app branding. Lite is $10 a month (₹900) for 7,500 DMs. ReplyRush says yearly plans save about 20% but lists no yearly prices. At the cap, automation stops, with no overage fees. Some of its pages give different numbers for the top plan, so check before you buy.
Suits: small budgets that want follow-gates and public replies.
Check: ReplyRush pricing.
InstantDM
InstantDM automates Instagram and Facebook DMs for creators, coaches and businesses. Every plan answers comments and posts public replies. DM keywords, story replies, Live comments, a follow gate and buttons start at Legend Pro; ad comments start at Trendsetter. AI comment variations come with every plan, and from Trendsetter an AI agent runs with your own OpenAI, Claude, Gemini or DeepSeek key. Its pricing table lists a live-chat inbox from Legend Pro, while its features page lists live chat as coming soon.
Free has 500 DM automations a month, 5 posts, 3 trigger words and 1 account. Legend Pro is $12 a month or $9.99 a month billed yearly (₹999 or ₹833), with no monthly cap but up to 800 automations an hour. Plans for several accounts start at $5 per account a month, billed for 3 accounts.
Suits: creators who want many triggers and public replies at a low price.
Check: InstantDM pricing.
CreatorFlow
CreatorFlow keeps to three triggers: comment to DM, story reply and DM keyword. Each automation sends one DM, with no drip campaigns or branching. Public replies and a follow gate come with Pro and Growth; CreatorFlow says its follow gate “runs on an honor system” and cannot check follows. It has no AI replies, works only with Instagram and uses Google sign-in.
Free has 1 account and 500 DMs a month. Pro is $15 a month or $12 a month billed yearly, for 2 accounts and 5,000 DMs per workspace a month. At the cap, automations pause until the next billing cycle. One warning from its help center: disconnecting permanently deletes all automations, contacts and conversation history in that workspace.
Suits: simple comment and story replies at a flat price.
Check: CreatorFlow pricing.
SuperProfile AutoDM
AutoDM is part of SuperProfile, “a creator commerce platform”. The free plan answers comments on posts and Reels, with one keyword per automation and no DM cap; its DMs end with a “Sent via SuperProfile” line. The paid Creator plan adds Stories, Lives and DM triggers, ask-to-follow, email collection, Messenger and up to 5 Instagram accounts. Its AI decides which comments get your pre-written DM; it does not write replies.
Creator costs $4.99 for the first month, then $29 a month, or $299 a year. On the India site it is ₹99, then ₹499 a month.
Suits: creators who also want SuperProfile’s store and lead tools.
Check: SuperProfile pricing.
DM Flow (ours)
We make DM Flow, so weigh this section with that in mind. DM Flow sends one private DM to each comment with your keyword, on one post or reel, several, or all of them. It answers DMs by keyword, with contains, is exactly or starts with, and capitals ignored unless you choose. There is no limit on keywords and no waiting period.
One inbox shows every conversation with a ring for the time left in the 24-hour window. When you reply yourself, automation pauses in that chat for 1 hour. DM Flow checks the 24-hour window and the 7-day private-reply limit before it sends, and sends at most 700 private replies per hour per account.
Where it is weaker: DM Flow has no flow builder, buttons, follow-gates, public replies, story or Live triggers, AI replies, broadcasts, integrations, team seats or other channels. You can sign up without a card.
Suits: accounts that mainly need comment-to-DM, keyword replies and one clear inbox, without building flows.

How to choose
Answer these questions before you compare prices:
- What do you need to automate? If it is a greeting and a few exact keywords, try Meta’s free tools first. If you need multi-step funnels or other channels, look at the bigger platforms.
- What will your volume cost? Count how many people write or comment each month, and how many DMs you send. Then price each tool on what it counts: contacts, DMs or credits.
- What happens at the limit? Some tools charge per extra contact. Others stop sending until next month.
- How many Instagram accounts? ManyChat and Inrō connect one account per subscription. LinkDM, ReplyRush, InstantDM, CreatorFlow and SuperProfile list plans for several accounts.
- Do you need public replies, follow-gates, AI or a team inbox? Check the tables above.
- Can you test it safely? Each comment allows one private reply, so test with a second account you own. Our guide to Instagram private replies explains why.
Red flags
- It asks for your Instagram password. Tools on the official API send you to Instagram’s or Facebook’s own login page. Our Instagram DM automation rules guide explains why password tools put your account at risk.
- It promises to DM strangers or a list of people. Businesses can message only people who wrote or commented first.
- It quotes a daily DM limit from Meta. Instagram says it limits DMs to stop spam; we found no page where it gives a daily number. Read about the real Instagram DM limits.
- It promises your account can never be restricted. Only Meta decides that. ManyChat’s own help center says it cannot reverse bans or restrictions.
What about new followers? Meta’s public developer docs list no new-follower event. ManyChat offers a beta Follow to DM that Meta controls (one message per person per week), and Chatfuel tests an alpha; most tools, including DM Flow, cannot do it. See whether you can auto DM new followers and what works instead.
